Coming Back to Life
Rembrandt-The Return of the Prodigal Son
Ok...believe it or not...the BOFi's back( is on fire??)
I look at the date on the last blog entry, and shudder to find that it has been such a long time since I have updated. Its not that I do not have any thing to write about-in fact, I have been mulling over atleast half a dozen topics, and even have 3 unfinished drafts waiting to be completed and posted, but somehow I have over the last few days hit into a writers blog( ok ok...so I've used it before...so what?). The past few weeks have generally been quite hectic, with lab exams and assignment submissions and dramatics and God knows what else. But now, I'm back, and hopefully( fingers crossed), with a vengeance.
The inspiration for this post was the fact that it is the first post I'm writing after downloading Mozilla Firefox 1.0. I hadn't noticed that it had been released, but as soon as I did, I immediately downloaded it, installed it, opened it for the first time, did a celebratory dance around the room, toasted it with a glass of Tapti's finest( yeah...water...whaddya think I would drink?)...and sat down to write this post.
This is for all of you who haven't yet downloaded Firefox 1.0-WHAT THE HELL ARE YA WAITIN FOR??? Now I am not a compsci stud, and will be the first person to admit that my fundaes on computers and internet are just a shade better than my fundaes on guitaring( I can now play my first Mozart piece-"Twinkle Twinkle Little Star", with a probability of one in ten repetitions of getting it correct). So do not for a moment interpret this post as some sort of tech pseud, or an attempt to portray myself as the computer stud that I aint. For hardcore tech fundaes, I request you to contact my good friends Venkat, or TS, or anybody else in the whole wide goddam world for that matter( save Shamanth:P). Thing is, after years of using IE, I just find Firefox a helluva lot faster/easier to use/convenienter/less prone to crashing/less irritating/better than any other browser that I have used. Now I will be the first to admit that I haven't really used Opera all that much, so I would have to reserve judgement on that, but for anyone using IE, or Netscape( which anyway is the basis of Firefox), or older versions of Mozilla browsers, switch now. The installation file is only 4.7 MB, and believe me, every moment spent downloading it will be worthwhile.
In other news, Arafat has died, the Shankaracharya has been arrested, Tapti mess food has hit a new low with no special grub for Diwali, there are some crazy junta playing volleyball outside my room at this odd hour, Belafonte is singing to me about some little girl he left behind in Kingston Town, and I have finally given way to incessant pressure from my loyal fan following( Shamanth-thank God you exist) and made The Raven's Desk a public blog( as Chekhov said in one of his short stories, and I quote as best as my memory permits me so may all errors be forgiven, "Mock me, ridicule me, inveigh me all, but please-one at a time.").

And yeah! Firefox Rules! From every standpoint.
Also has been formally declared Exunclans official browser.
Quizzes...they've kinda dried up, but the few we've been for, at MSBK, Mount Saint Mary...etc, we've won em all. Totally unbeaten record since Maria.
